GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. That is, it is an image manipulation software developed under GNU, which means that it is freely distributed and can be modified by other developers or add features with plugins or extensions, there are more than a hundred of them available.

GIMP is a very complete program that you will be able to use both to retouch photographs and to make simple drawings in the same way that you use Paint, a typical program of basic Windows installations

You can also use GIMP to convert files in either individual or group mode. At the tool level it is very complete, use it both to create vector drawings and for more artistic illustrations.
